Okay serious blog backup. There is so much going on, that I just can't keep up. I have attached lots of pics and they are in reverse chronological order (sorry) but it is easier for me and so that is just how it is going to have to be. First Up!
Mason for hire! The poor kid has inherited his mom's love of material things, but doesn't quite have the cashflow to support it. He get's a weekly allowance but can't quite seem to hold on to it.
Now as many of you know Mason has always gotten very "into" whatever his latest interest is, to the point of obsession. Does this also sound like anyone you know. Anyhoo, when he was younger the "attachments" lasted longer but now he still gets into things but the shelf life is not what it used to be. Papa Nick and Betty brought Mason a little something when they came to visit for Carter's birthday. He immediately went and grabbed a previous gift of the same type. And so we have the beginnings of a collection!!! So since his parents are mean, he is having to earn extra money to buy more Bionicles. He does good work and the price is right!
Mason twisted his ankle on Carter's birthday and it bothered him thru the weekend. Here he is bumming a lift from Papa and Betty.
We headed down to visit Michelle, Craig and Bruno and to walk to the sno-cone stand. This sno cone stand is not always open and we have had some pretty disapointed children the last couple of times we attempted get sno-cones.
but not this day, this day we scored!
That is a lot of candles! I can't believe my baby is 10! For all the times I looked at a kindly stranger who only wanted to remind me "to enjoy them because they grow up so fast" like I was going to rip their head off, I apologize. As it turns out it does happen in a blink of an eye.
I remember when I used to be this ladies little girl and look at me now! I bet she can hardly stand it, but at least I let her love on these two knuckle heads, it probably helps dull the pain.
The streamer tradition lives on. Every year I have done Pink for Carter and Blue for Mason. There have been some grumblings lately that someone is "over" pink. So I was not sure what to do. I wasn't quite ready to let go completely of pink and so I mixed it up, baby steps for me.
This was our gift to Carter along with some additional refill mixes.
Here is what the end product turned out like. Just like the picture on the box right? But for the record it tasted really yummy. This was just our first go, we will try again.
The first day of scool!
I like this double profile shot because, I have always thought even though my children's coloring is so completely different they really do look like each other. I think you can kind of see it in this shot. They have a lot of the same shapes.
Remember that bit about how they grow up so fast. Well this one is waving me over to give her a kiss before the bus comes. I hope she always does that, I know she won't but I will cherish every time she does.
And don't you just love her socks! The girls got style!
We went to Martha's sister (Molly) and brother in law(John)'s shop in Leslie, MO. They have a shop in front that sells handmade pottery and artwork. In the back where they make the pottery they have private classes. John was very patient with us and let us take a whack at it.
This is a nice bowl! He's a natural, because seriously it is harder than it looks.
Whoah............ my love.......... my darlin'........... I've hungered for your touch......oh, sorry! This song went thru my head more than a few times while I was having a turn at the wheel.

I have so many comments, I don't know where to start!! First, I'm glad to have this post waiting because I'm laughing like we're still on the phone...Second, for a twisted ankle, Mason sure is maneuvering those tree limbs (ha!) Third, I love the back to school outfits- so funny that Mason's shirt is big on him now, but in a couple months will fit just right (all kids new school clothes seem to be bought a little on the big side for obvious reasons) and I enjoy the way Carter's back pack matches her first day ensemble. Oh, Oh, and I love the look on Carter's face as she's trying to get a kiss as the bus is quickly approaching. I can just hear her thoughts to HURRY! And you pretty much crack me up because I hear that song everytime I see that pottery wheel. You are hilarious! Must run in the family because as it turns out, so am I! :)
